“In closing he wants to tell me that people often find that the starting of this diet seems to stir up all sorts of difficulties. It seems as though everything begins to go wrong at once. This may be disconcerting, but it is really a good sign. It means that things are moving, and is not that the very object we have in view? If my whole world seems to rock on it’s foundations, I hold on steadily, I let it rock and when the rocking is over, the picture will have resembled itself into something much nearer to my heart’s desire.”
-The Mental Diet by Emmett Fox, Page 17-
These past few weeks my world has indeed seemed to be rocking on it’s foundations. It is, in fact, through this rocking that everything I have been learning while practicing the “Mental Diet” and fully committing myself to it, has been put to the test as to it’s substance and power in my life. I have found great solace in the words from Emmet Fox quoted above. My mind has actually found itself pondering the fact that, Hmmm, all these difficulties that have been stirred up. “it is a really good sign.”
I am thrilled to report that these “difficulties” are turning out to be blessings in disguise. What seemed to be meant for evil has turned out for the good. Interpersonal relationships within our family are beginning to grow and be renewed in beautiful ways. New relationships are being built, and the things that are most important are coming into laser focus. It is truly amazing to see how all the parts of this Master Key Experience are coming together in symphony and consort with each other. Harmony is prevailing, and more quickly than I would have imagined possible! I am seeing all the Laws of the Mind coming into play, The Law of Substitution, The Law of Relaxation, The Law of Practice, The Law of Forgiveness, The Law of Dual Thought, The Law of Subconscious, and culminating in the Law of Growth, “Whatever we think about grows. What we forget about atrophies.”
This has been a truly amazing and fun growth experience for which I am more grateful than words can express! One of the really “fun” aspects of what has been happening is this: none of my family members are in the Master Keys Experience. However, one example of how this is playing out in their lives is in the elimination of watching TV. I choose to not breath a word about this to my family, but simply commit myself to the discipline. Within a couple of days, my husband stopped turning on the TV. He remarked to me recently, “Have you noticed that I have not turned on the TV? I am enjoying the peace and quiet without it.” How amazing is that? If that were not enough, our adult daughter who is traveling with us said the exact same thing. We have now been together for ! !/2 weeks! This is no small miracle in either case!!
WONDERS NEVER CEASE!
Such a strange combination of difficulties and blessing! I’m reassured with my own path by you sharing yours. Gratitude!

I have an idea of how you feel. I experienced family challenges and deep gratitude because of them, over Thanksgiving. Because of what you recently experienced, I know you will experience a deeper sense of gratitude and awareness, and joy this year.

I have noticed the same thing about the TV. The only one who still turns it on is my 7 year old, but even she is not turning it on as much. Reading how good things are showing up in your life adds fuel to my own faith. Thanks.
